My son paid for my trip out in Jessie for my 65 birthday present. Brought back a lot of old memories of the first Fords I used to drive in the UK, Jessie certainly had a lot of character and was a lot of fun to drive around Freo with the windows down and my wife and sons in the car. We enjoyed taking Penelope for a spin , particularly on the M1. The day was overcast, not too warm, so perfect for cruising down the road. E type’s are a special breed with their generous power to weight ratio, the Toyota gearbox changed well and left a throaty rumble through the exhaust! No problems to speak of, brakes were a tad spongy, that is to be expected with a 58 year old car. Simon January 2026

Abby was great fun. A fantastic present from my daughter Jo. It was a hot day, but we kept moving through the Adelaide hills cooling ourselves in the breeze; fond memories as I sit at home in Scotland where the weather is -4C, icy and overcast! I had forgotten what driving a “real” car was like; no power steering or assisted brakes and a feel for the road that I have missed from the old days. Our trip in Black Mamba was a surprise as the owner was very generous and letting us take her for a spin, as there was complications with the Windsor. I must say we got a great deal, we got lots of Waves people honking their horns, she was very loud through the tunnels. You couldn’t miss her, heads were turning. It was very special for us as it was a farewell trip and a tick on a bucket list.. for someone that has terminal cancer. It was exciting to feel the wind in my hair. All of us loved the trip. Our day spent with Rocky was such a fantastic day. He ran perfectly and we did not have any issues at all. There were no real problems and I enjoyed my day out. Like most people these days, I’m a lazy automatic transmission user. However, I learnt (a few Summers back now) on manual cars so the old skills and co-ordination came back very quickly – probably something akin to the old adage about riding a bike. The gearbox on the MGB certainly had its little foibles so on occasions, I had to resort to double de-clutching to avoid clashing/crunching the gears. It was also nice listening to the engine note for another cue to change gears. As it eventuated, the weather was just perfect for my outing. I chose to have the hood up rather than get blown about and sunburnt but it was still a very enjoyable day out. David October 2024 (Abby)
First, my wife and I appreciated being able to take out such an old and rare car for a spin, even so the day was a little wet to start with and never really came good, but also never turned terrible either. West Head was freezing, Bobbin Head was nicer for a picnic lunch.

We had the most fabulous day with Rocky in Adelaide. I had booked it as a surprise for my husband and he was absolutely thrilled. Unfortunately, the weather did not want to cooperate with us and although we did get to drive with the top down for a while through the Adelaide Hills, we did have to put it up as it started raining very heavily. Blanche performed perfectly even though I had not driven a 4 on the floor for some 61 years. It’s like riding a bike, you never forget!! No trouble with hill starts or traffic. I found the steering and brakes something to get used to as I have been used to power everything.
Never-the-less, it was an exciting day for the family to ride in this vintage vehicle, albeit we had to cut the use time to about three hours in order to meet family commitments later that day. Tim was very accommodating with this arrangement. Wonderful experience!! Max August 2024

We had a lovely day out with Stanley. After waking to rain, the weather improved so we were able to drive with the lid off all day. We drove to Healsville and up the Black Spur to Marysville. Visited Steavenson’s Falls and had a picnic lunch followed by a short walk at ‘The Beauty Spot’. On the return journey we stopped at Maroondah Dam where Stanley was greatly admired by some young men who thought he looked new. They nearly fell over when we told them that he was born in 1969. In the early 70s we used to have an MGB GT of about the same ‘vintage’. We are both in our 70s and so predated automatic cars by a good bit. However, we had forgotten the comparative hardship, compared to a modern car, of no power steering and minimally assisted brakes. We paid for the extra driver so that we could each have a go and I must say, to my chagrin, that Liz drove Stanley better than me. We both enjoyed our experience, so thank you for a great day out. No issues other than a minor mechanical problem. This was managed quickly through the owners roadside coverage so absolutely no issue from us. The wwner was very easy to work with and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I will definitely contact you again when we want another classic car.
